Commissioning Christmas Jewellery for The Festive Season

Looking for an extra special piece of jewellery this Christmas? We have plenty of Christmas jewellery in our online collection and on display at our Lichfield gallery, but for a truly one-of-a-kind design, there’s no better choice than a commission piece.

Our commission services take all your favourite parts of a design – statement stones, sculptural shapes, stunning settings – and join them together in a piece crafted just for you. Christmas is the perfect time of year to invest in timeless, dazzling designs for yourself (or someone special), so let’s collaborate today on a custom Christmas piece that will last a lifetime.

Commissioning Your Christmas Jewellery

Don’t only think of jewellery for Christmas as fixed, ready-to-wear pieces. As your seasonal style transitions away from cosy knits and towards festive outfits for work events and family gatherings, so too should you say goodbye to everyday jewellery staples and hello to a custom design that is as creatively ingenious as it is visually interesting.

We specialise in unique and unusual commissions, and every part of our process, from the initial sketch to any final modifications, is done to your budget, brief, and requirements. Our commissions are collaborative projects, so you will be in control of your design at all times, and we will work with you throughout the following process to deliver a showstopping design that is made just for you.

1. Decide Your Budget

Before undertaking any commission project it is important to have a set budget, particularly if the piece is a gift (even special presents should be kept within your price limit!).

We cater to all budgets and once we know yours we will be able to recommend all the best materials, metals, stones and design elements that will match it and make your vision a reality.

2. Choose A Piece

Next, it’s time to decide which jewellery type you would like to commission. A necklace, a bracelet, a ring, a pair of earrings … the choice is truly yours.

It is also a good idea during this time to know whether or not you are having more than one piece made. We find that having matching, or at least complementing, pieces is a popular way for friends and family members to celebrate their relationships, signify lasting connections, and make a visible statement of love.

For example, if you are having a necklace made for yourself, then why not match with your daughter by commissioning a bracelet for her as well? Or, if you have your heart set on a special gemstone set into a pair of earrings, then we will be only too happy to create matching cufflinks or a tie pin with the same materials for the special man in your life.

3. Discuss Your Ideas

Don’t worry if you can’t make up your mind before attending your initial consultation. This first visit to our workshop presents the perfect opportunity to talk through your ideas and options as we navigate the design process together.

This can be as simple as identifying the colours that you like and the metals that you don’t, or a detailed unpacking of the symbols, icons, or visual details associated with a particular memory that you wish to pay homage to in your design. We are ready to work with you to craft your favourite new piece of festive jewellery that is showstopping and sentimental in equal measure.

Whatever you have in mind, you have hopefully chosen our services because our jewellery resonates with you; so, if there is a particular design in our collection that you would like to draw inspiration from for your own piece then please let us know.

4. Finalise The Design

Now that we have everything we need to begin making your commission piece, we will provide you with an initial drawing that includes all of your ideas and details all the technical aspects, including the right setting for different materials, that will make it a reality.

Don’t worry if the initial sketch doesn’t quite capture your vision – we aren’t happy until you are happy, so be as honest as you can when giving us feedback on our design. If there are any elements of the design that you don’t particularly like but are structurally or technically important then we will present you with different options, or rework the entire design to tackle them before any final decisions are made.

We are on hand to adapt the final design as many times as necessary until the design on paper reflects exactly what you had in mind, so be honest with our commissions team and remain committed to your vision this Christmas.

5. Collect Your Custom Piece

Throughout the process our commissions team will be in touch with regular updates on how the design is coming together. You will also be welcome to contact us at any point, and to visit our workshop, to ask questions or clarify any points.

Since all of our commission pieces are made to order, the finished piece will fit you or your recipient perfectly, and we will invite you to try it on when collecting your new Christmas jewellery from our workshop.

If any last minute adjustments need to be made to any clasps or chain lengths then this will be the time to do so, and we will also provide you with care instructions for your piece to help you keep it clean and safe over the festive period, and for all the Christmases to come.

Commission Jewellery In Time For Christmas

Commission consultations are available year-round at our jewellery gallery, but don’t leave it much later to request our services.

We recommend contacting our commissions team 6-8 weeks before your deadline to have your finished piece ready in time for the Christmas period, and we also offer a separate remodelling service.

Our remodelling team deliver updated takes on iconic pieces (perfect for gifting and celebrating family), so bring your best-loved designs into 2026 with new metals, materials and settings – all available at our Heart of the Country Shopping Village workshop.
