Looking Back at 2019 With Heart of the Country Village
It’s been an extremely busy year for Allen Brown Jewellery and our vibrant community of independent retailers at Heart of the Country Village, Swinfen. As we step into the New Year, we will look back at 2019 as a great, memorable year, full of charity events and new jewellery collection launches!
Let’s review some of the most unforgettable moments of 2019 at Heart of the Country Village.
Village in Bloom – Fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society
Between Saturday 29th June and Sunday 7th July, Heart of the Country Village held a week of events in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. For ‘Village in Bloom’, our shopping village was decorated with a variety of floral displays.
Special events that took place included a Children’s Forget Me Not Picnic, hosted by the Lichfield Tea Company, where visitors were able to take part in floral inspired craft activities.
At Allen Brown Jewellery, to play our part in raising funds for the Alzheimer’s society, we decorated our window displays showing ‘Silver in Bloom’ and held a 1-day silver jewellery making course. Followed by an Antique Jewellery and Silverware Valuation Day with Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers.
Across our Village’s three restaurants, The Barn at Swinfen, The Lichfield Tea Company, and the Pear Tree Creperie, Swinfen Supper Club was staged, with a different course being served at each venue, and with musical entertainment throughout the evening.
Following the week’s celebrations, we were able to hand over a cheque of £1,930.70 to the Alzheimer’s Society.
In September, Allen Brown was interviewed by Mama Life Magazine for a feature on our fundraising activities for the Alzheimer’s society.
Win Your Rings with Citylife
Later in the summer, we were featured in the July/August 2019 issue of Citylife in Lichfield magazine. In partnership with Citylife, we launched a competition for a lucky person to win a pair of rings to the value of £500 from Allen Brown Jewellery. We made her the two rose gold and fire opal rings as seen in the photo.
Sponsoring Lichfield Proms
For the last few years, we have been proud to sponsor Lichfield Proms, and 2019 was no different. It was another fantastic event, thanks to Lichfield District Council and The British Police Symphony Orchestra.
Radiant Ribbon Pendant – Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we raised money for local charity, Breast Friends – Sutton Coldfield.
We designed and made a ‘Radiant Ribbon Pendant’ in our workshop and invited people to make a minimum donation of £5.00 to be entered into a draw to win the beautiful piece of jewellery. The pendant in question was made from 18ct white gold diamond and pink sapphires.
Our chosen charity, Breast Friends – Sutton Coldfield, are a support group based at Good Hope Hospital. The organisation is run by unpaid volunteers, all of whom have been diagnosed with breast cancer. They do fantastic work, offering support from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.
The pendant was won by Clarice Jones, and given to her Mum, Angela, as a surprise. We made £1175.00 for Breast Friends.
